DESCRIPTION: APW - Rockford, Grade 500, 21J, 16S, heavy 14K gold Keystone HC recase, center front with lightly visible engraving detail of a hand grasping electric bolts, gold cuvette, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, large polished steel disk around escape jewel setting, gold jewel settings, gold train, mvt marked "RG" denoting railroad grade, spiral pattern nickel damascene, s#546678. Gross weight of assembled watch 72.1 dwt (112.2 g). A rare and beautiful movement, the total production of the Grade 500 was only 240 made. The Grade 500 and its open face equivalent the Grade 505 were Rockford's finest quality 16 size products.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, short scratches outside fourth wheel bridge screw and outside third wheel bridge screw, some typical micro-fine scratches elsewhere, steelwork with some small bits of oxide; dial with some outer chapter hls, small flake to inner rim of outer chapter above 5, very small surface nick above 3; excellent hour and seconds-hand, fine minute hand with some oxide; case shows medium wear, ding to band at 5:30, mild shallow dent to left-central rear, greatly reduced engine turning detail with sizable portions of full loss, engraving detail to center front of hand grasping electric bolts is greatly reduced with portions of full loss and would have been very difficult to identify if we hadn't encountered this particular anti-magnetic imagery previously; tight bow, crown shows medium wear; good glass crystal.
